HBO is currently in the works of making two Sherlock Holmes spinoff series based on Robert Downey Jr.’s adaptation.

While we don’t know if Downey Jr. will have an onscreen role in the series, we know that he will be an executive producer. The idea of the crime-solving show is to focus on a different character besides Sherlock Holmes.

Alongside Downey Jr., Susan Downey and Amanda Burnell will be executive producers for the spinoff. Wigram Productions Lionel Wigram will also be involved in the production of it.

The unnamed proposed series is set in the same world as Sherlock Holmes 3 (which has not been released yet due to various factors), Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011).

The crime series will be added to the growing list of film and TV adaptions of Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes novels. Such as Elementary (starring Johnny Lee Miller as Holmes and Lucy Liu as Watson which ran for a total of 7 seasons), Benedict Cumberbatch’s version, Sherlock (had a run of 4 seasons), and Holmes and Watson (starring Will Ferrell and Kelly MacDonald).

While we don’t know much about the series, you can watch Sherlock Holmes (2009) and its sequel, A Game of Shadows, on Netflix or HBO for the meantime.
