Maya Erskine Selected for Lead Role in Mr. And Mrs. Smith Series Adaptation
Maya Erskine is dipping her toes in the world of Amazon Prime Video as she joins the cast of the Mr. & Mrs. Smith television adaptation.
In an interview with Interview Magazine where Donald Glover essentially questioned himself, he revealed that PEN15’s Maya Erskine will co-star in the comedy series.
It was initially reported back in 2021 that it would be Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge who would play alongside him. However, she left the role as a result of creative differences. The “This Is America” rapper and series co-creator maintains that there is no bad blood between them, stating in the interview, “What does it mean to be a friend? I still like her. I assume she still likes me.”
Of course, many were sad at the news that the talented actress and writer would no longer be on the project, but people were more than happy to see Erskine sign on. Even Glover went on to gush about her talent. “Yeah. She’s dope. It’s exciting. I really love the show. I’m writing the finale now.”

As of now, we can expect to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith on Amazon Prime Video sometime in 2022. There is no news regarding the projected release date of the series as it’s still in pre-production, but we know this will be a show to binge.
