The Jubilee era is not over just yet. Michelle Zauner, frontwoman of the indie-pop band Japanese Breakfast, made a quick pit stop to The Kelly Clarkson Show to chat all things Jubilee, The Grammys, and her stunning memoir, Crying In H Mart.

Michelle Zauner had her first couch interview with none other than Kelly Clarkson on April 27. The “Kokomo, IN” singer appeared double time, first alone in a sit-down interview and then as a musical guest.

Clarkson began the interview by congratulating Zauner and her band on their two Grammy nominations. Japanese Breakfast released their third studio album, Jubilee, on June 4. The record was nominated for Best Alternative Album and the band was also up for Best New Artist. Despite coming home empty-handed, Zauner slayed her Grammys look with a warm yellow ruffled dress, a staple to the Jubilee aesthetic.

Zauner shared a funny story from the Grammys involving Doja Cat. The singer had gone to the bathroom and ran into Doja Cat. The “Be Sweet” singer was hopeful that she could get an epic bathroom selfie with the “Woman” singer, but unfortunately, the Grammys had other plans. The show does not stop for anyone, even in the middle of a bathroom break. Doja Cat was whisked away from the bathroom to receive her first Grammy award for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance for “Kiss Me More” with SZA. Zauner may have failed at a photo-op, but she was still happy for the singer’s win.

The Kelly Clarkson Show ended with a bang when Japanese Breakfast performed “Be Sweet” off their Grammy-nominated record, Jubilee.

Michelle Zauner’s Japanese Breakfast is showing fans that Jubilee is forever. The Jubilee Tour is continuing into 2022. The band announced a North American tour with special guests The Linda Lindas, Barrie, Yo La Tengo, and Cate Le Bon. Fans can secure tickets to one of their shows here.
