Hilary Duff Powerfully Poses on New Women’s Health Cover
Hilary Duff has powerfully graced the cover of Women’s Health. The actress and singer focused her attention on body acceptance and motherhood.
On May 10, Lizzie McGuire alum Hilary Duff took to Instagram to share her stunning Women’s Health photoshoot. She writes, “Sooooo, this was scary….. I knew doing this would terrify me and I was right!” She continues, “I felt strong and beautiful and laughed a lot getting into some of these poses without my high-waisted mom jeans and oversized whatever I normally wear.”
The Younger actress detailed her struggles trying to live up to Hollywood’s dangerous standards on women, initially beginning when she was just a teenager. She expresses, “Because of my career path, I can’t help but be like, ‘I am on camera and actresses are skinny.'” After a failed Lizzie McGuire reboot, she signed on to How I Met Your Father eight months pregnant. This meant that the actress had just four and a half months to lose her baby weight for the role of Sophie.
In addition to Duff’s successful television career, she has really learned to love her body. The decision to pose naked on Women’s Health was scary yet deliberate. She states, “I’m proud of my body. I’m proud that it’s produced three children for me. I’ve gotten to a place of being peaceful with the changes my body has gone through.”
In a poignant part of the interview, she revealed that she began to make peace with her body after the birth of her second child. She states, “I didn’t even know if I was going to have the opportunity to have another child [after the divorce]. So, being a mom again, maybe. It was a whole mix of things—of being settled and realizing that I’m powerful and talented and smart. All mental things.” She is a mother to Luca, Banks, and Mae. She married singer Matthew Koma in 2019.
