They’ve done it again. Tomorrow X Together is back and better than ever in their newest mini-album, minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, released this Monday, May 9. The EP consists of five songs: “Opening Sequence,” “Good Boy Gone Bad,” “Trust Fund Baby,” “Lonely Boy (The tattoo on my ring finger),” and “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go.” Each track brings a unique sound to Tomorrow X Together’s vast discography, some gravitating more towards the R&B genre and others with a lighthearted, energetic sound.

Switching back to the Minisode series, Tomorrow X Together took 180° on their last theme, minisode 1: Blue Hour. The EP showcased the group’s bubbly personality and introduced their complex storyline. However, since then, they have continuously gone for darker themes. This mini-album’s title track, “Good Boy Gone Bad” is unlike anything Tomorrow X Together has ever released.

The more abrasive, rock-centric track is fast-paced and blends the members’ rap and vocal talents. The pre-chorus slowly builds, which helps the group achieve a more powerful impact on the chorus. Despite being of a different trilogy, the message of this track follows the conflict which arose in “LO$ER=LO♡ER.” Still, the boys approach the aftermath of the breakup with a malicious and rebellious attitude. Tomorrow X Together’s versatility is what makes listeners always come back for more. They are constantly putting new and innovative songs into the spotlight.

That’s not all. All of the other tracks have gained recognition as well. We might as well delve into the beauty and significance of their b-sidetracks, which have been popular among listeners everywhere. Unexpectedly, “Opening Sequence” is the first track of this EP. It was speculated to be an intro track to the mini-album before the release, but at Tomorrow X Together’s comeback show, they were more than ready to perform with a whole choreographed number.

This track is traced with elements of hip-hop and R&B, which make it all the more mesmerizing to listen to. Similar to “Good Boy Gone Bad,” this track deals completely with the pain of a breakup. They can envision their past lover, and the recurring memories of that significant other floods their minds until the pain is unbearable. It is a track that everyone can groove along to and displays the universal feeling of loneliness and regret.

“Lonely Boy” is sung by members Yeonjun and Hueningkai. It is slower-paced but still delivers an impactful punch with the boys’ smooth vocals and rapping abilities. In this track, the boys seem to transition from utter sadness to the embracement of independence. The song incorporates catchy harmonies alongside Yeonjun’s rap verse. Meanwhile, the infamous “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go,” the title which was spoiled many months ago during the groups’ performance at the MMAs, brings forth an energetic track in contrast to the other b-sides. Members Soobin, Taehyun, and Beomgyu (also the producer) sang in this track.

Their bright vocals draw listeners into the song, which is driven by a synth beat. Although it sounds hopeful, the lyrics remain somewhat reminiscent and nostalgic, viewing their breakup as a never-ending cycle. Lastly, the group delves into a heart-wrenching ballad titled “Trust Fund Baby.” This track hits a little too close to home, similar to “Anti-Romantic” from The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE. They long for a life with their lover that they will never be able to attain, and it pains them to see that person move on with their life.

In light of Tomorrow X Together’s upcoming tour, MOAs (the group’s fanbase) have been even more eager to snatch up tickets for themselves. Controversial opinions have spread across major social media platforms advocating for larger venues in major cities like New York and Atlanta. With this new comeback on the drink of presale tickets starting next week, fans are doing everything in their power to see the group—which has not performed in the U.S. since 2019.

Keep with the group’s promotion and activities on their Twitter and Instagram pages.
