Florence Welch excitedly took to Instagram to share that Dance Fever is out and for all the Choreomaniacs out there. The concept of choreomania inspires the whole record. In a press release, the “Morning Elvis” singer revealed that she was fascinated by this Renaissance-era phenomenon, where “people danced to the point of exhaustion or death.”

In addition to this concept, she drew further lyrical inspiration from “the tragic heroines of pre-Raphaelite art, the gothic fiction of Carmen Maria Machado and Julia Armfield.” In an attempt to prepare fans for Dance Fever, the singer compiled a list of films to get in the mood. Volume One contains films St. Maude, Suspiria, Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula, and The Red Shoes. Volume Two includes films The Witch, The Wicker Man, Midsommar, and Juliet of the Spirits.

The gothic fairytale that is Dance Fever contains 14 songs and a dreamy collaboration with Maggie Rogers. The “That’s Where I Am” singer shared an anecdote about her time at Electric Lady. Rogers was downstairs working on her upcoming album, Surrender, and Welch was in the upstairs studio recording Dance Fever. Rogers reveals that the two “decided to trade vocals and sang on each other’s records. Rogers appears on the tracks “Girls Against God” and “Dream Girl Evil.” She ends her post calling Welch a “magical genius sorceress sister.”

The feeling is mutual for Welch, who calls Rogers her “musical daughter.” This surprising collaboration is a dream for fans of powerful female energy.

Congratulations to Florence + the Machine on an excellent new record. Dance Fever is available to stream on all major music platforms. In more exciting news, the band is touring the record. You do not want to miss this magical show. Be sure to secure tickets here.
