W Magazine reveals Volume 3, its third music issue, with singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey. Del Rey graced the magazine’s front cover and sat down with Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s creative director, for an exclusive interview.

Del Rey opened up about her career. As a six-time Grammy Awards nominee, she’s released unique and heartfelt songs. This June will be the tenth anniversary of Del Rey’s hit “Summertime Sadness.” With a new album coming soon, she’s excited to sit down and talk to an old friend and collaborator about her creative process.

The “Doin’ Time” singer looks straight out of Hollywood in the Celine by Hedi Slimane dress and belt and an Albertus Swanepoel bow on the front cover. She pairs the all-black dress with elegant Gucci Haute Couture shoes. Del Rey wears a chunky Swarovski necklace and earrings to finish the outfit.

When asked about the elements of nature in her music, Del Rey stated, “In California, earth, wind, and fire are huge. All the elements are taken into consideration with my art, all the time. Which is funny, because people often ask why I sing about California. But I usually sing about wherever I am, and it just so happens that California is such a storm center right now. For me, the California landscape never gets old.”

She now has a new and unique album coming. This new album is going to be like nothing we’ve seen before. According to the “Young and Beautiful” singer, it’s “more like I’m angry. The songs are very conversational. For the first song, I pressed record and sang, ‘When I look back, tracing fingertips over plastic bags, I think I wish I could extrapolate some small intention or maybe get your attention for a minute or two.’ It’s a very wordy album. So there’s no room for color. It’s almost like I’m typing in my mind.” Fans have supported the singer-songwriter on her new album and her feature on W Magazine’s cover.
