First Look at Ryan Gosling’s Ken in Upcoming Barbie Movie
Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the first glimpse of bleach-blonde, fake-tanned, and six-pack abs showing Ryan Gosling as Ken in the new Barbie film. The image of Gosling smirking in an all-pink setting wearing a denim vest, denim jeans, and personalized boxers emblazoned with his name, “Ken,” left the internet stunned.

Fans are struck by the bold transformation of the actor who is famous for playing romantic roles such as Noah in The Notebook and Sebastian in La La Land.
The upcoming movie is directed by Greta Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach. The movie has been under production since 2009 with various rumors such as Anne Hathaway taking the role of Barbie and is now finally coming to theaters. It is also meaningful in that the film finally ends Ryan Gosling’s five-year break from acting.
The photo of Ken is the second official image from Barbie following the first photo of Margot Robbie as Barbie smiling in her iconic pink convertible.

Robbie excited the fans by commenting in her 2021 interview with British Vogue that the movie will not be the typical Barbie that people expect. Robbie stated, “People generally hear ‘Barbie’ and think, ‘I know what that movie is going to be,’ and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t…’” The interview left fans curious about how Gerwig adapted the classic doll Barbie into a live-action movie.
Following Gosling and Robbie, the A-list lineup of the upcoming movie includes comedians like Issa Rae and Will Ferrell. The film stars Kate McKinnon, Barbie Ferrera, Simu Liu, and Michael Cera as well.
The film hits theaters on July 23, 2023. We cannot wait to see the first live-action version of Barbie.
