Beloved scientist and children’s TV show host Bill Nye tied the knot with journalist and New York Times best-selling author Liza Mundy.

As People reported, Bill Nye sealed the deal. Children across America watched his educational television show Bill Nye the Science Guy. Always wearing a bow tie and a smile, he gave informational overviews of topics ranging from astronomy, chemistry, physics, and everything in-between. Now, the 66-year-old has begun his second marriage in Washington, D.C.

The wedding took place at Smithsonian Institution Building, commonly known as “The Castle.” Constructed in 1855, “The Castle” is the oldest property the Smithsonian owns. Its pride is the Haupt Garden: a rooftop getaway complete with fountains, brick paths, and flourishing flowers. The Haupt Garden is a remote destination perfect for a wedding.

In late May, journalist Liza Mundy walked down the aisle to meet her fiancé, Bill Nye. Mundy previously worked at The Washington Post. In 2017, she published Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II. The novel revolves around the ten thousand women who worked as codebreakers for the U.S. military. As a part of her research, she mentioned Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye, the mother of Nye as one of the Code Breakers. Following the publication, Nye contacted Mundy via email. Almost five years after the book’s publication, the couple wed.

Wearing an emerald-green bowtie and a dignified black suit, he stood before Mundy, who wore a satin, sleeveless gown. Overall, Twitter agrees the newlyweds look adorable.

To add to the occasion, Star Trek actor Robert Picardo, officiated the wedding. Picardo is known for his role in the 90s TV show Star Trek: Voyager.

To end the day on a lovely note, the couple had their first dance to Sam Cooke’s timeless song, “Wonderful World.”

At Glitter, we extend our congratulations to the newlyweds and look forward to their upcoming projects. Check out a clip from Bill Nye the Science Guy below.
