We’re soaring, flying, and crying tears of nostalgia. Vanessa Hudgens took a trip to Salt Lake City, where High School Musical was filmed, and it’s safe to say that once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.

In a new Instagram reel, Hudgens is in front of the East High building walking towards her phone, throwing up a peace sign looking as content as ever. Of course, a reel isn’t complete without a sound, and she chose the perfect one; as she strolls in front of the school, we hear the first few seconds of the iconic duet, that is, “Breaking Free.”

The nostalgia doesn’t stop there; she captioned the video with her monologue from the classic rooftop garden scene. It reads, “Do you remember in kindergarten how you’d meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you’re playing like you’re best friends because you didn’t have to be anything but yourself?”

The video immediately caught everyone’s attention, with over 1 million likes in 6 hours, to be exact. Her comments were full of fans rejoicing over their favorite childhood film and reciting other lines from the movie like, “Hey, hey, hey. Look at me- right at me. Like the first time together, remember…”

It wouldn’t be a look back at High School Musical without a reaction from everyone’s favorite basketball coach, Mr. Bolton (Bart Johnson). In his comment, Johnson stated, “I saw this and had a PTSD like I couldn’t find my team captains LETS GO WILDCATS!! 🏀🐾”

The 2006 film High School Musical directed by Kenny Ortega, is a childhood staple for almost everyone who grew up watching Disney. The first and second films were so successful that the third and final film of the series had a theatrical release. Over a decade later, the series prompted a spinoff series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, where we’ve been introduced to a new batch of stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Sofia Wylie, and Joshua Bassett.

For years, fans have begged for a fourth movie with the original cast, and the closest they’ve gotten is a virtual sing-along of “We’re All In This Together” in 2020. But don’t despair; all things Y2K are trending again, and anything could happen.

You can stream all three High School Musical films on Disney+.
