Kacey Musgraves Collaborates with Fancy Hagood on New Song ‘Blue Dream Baby’
Kacey Musgraves continues to be a shining light for the LGBTQ+ community. The “Velvet Elvis” singer collaborated with self-proclaimed queer Southern pop musician Fancy Hagood on the track, “Blue Dream Baby.” The song marks a special occasion, arriving on International Pride Day.
Celebrate the summer season and Pride Month with the latest track from Fancy Hagood. The artist announced on Instagram that his “intergalactic extravaganza” of a song features a very special voice: Kacey Musgraves. The Grammy award-winning singer has championed the community since the beginning of her career. She released the powerful self-love and acceptance anthem, “Follow Your Arrow,” in 2013.

In 2017, the singer wrote a love letter to the LGBTQ community, recalling her memories of visiting gay bars in Nashville. She writes in her piece:
“I shortly moved to Nashville where I made tons of gay friends and started going to the few gay clubs we have in town. It started to enrage me that I’d had some previous misunderstanding about a group of people that I now love so much and have so much in common with. As I got deeper into the country community I realized how many still felt the need to hide their identities. Country music has always been a genre built on songs and stories celebrating real life so I took it upon myself to include my own awakening into my music and knew that I would be taking some heat for it.”

Fancy Hagood shared a stunning visual of their collaboration designed by Sky Baby Cartoons. He states of Musgraves, “Kacey is such a trailblazer and has created so much room in this town for queer expression and art. I have felt the effects of the change she has helped create not only in my career but in my personal life as well. Kacey made me feel seen long before we were friends and I’m so honored to
share a track with such a legend.”
Prior to this collaboration, Musgraves shared her vocals on the Elvis soundtrack. The singer took on the emotional ballad “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
