On July 12, The Television Academy announced the nominations for outstanding work in the television industry. The Academy graciously recognized Sydney Sweeney for her work in both Euphoria and The White Lotus. She is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for Euphoria and Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or TV Movie for The White Lotus. Both series that Sweeney starred in were among the most nominated of the year with Euphoria earning 16 nominations and The White Lotus scoring a whopping 20 nominations.

The actress took to Instagram to address her well-deserved nominations. Sweeney posted an emotional video calling her mother, where she quickly had to hang up due to the overwhelming messages she was receiving. She writes, “What a morning! Thank you so much to the @televisionacad for my Emmy nominations! It’s an honor to know that both Olivia and Cassie have connected with so many. I’m so proud of both these shows and grateful to everybody that’s been a part of them. But most importantly Mom, I love you, we did it through the ups and downs! Thank you, thank you!!”

The role of Cassie Howard is not an easy task. The actress spoke of the impact Euphoria has on fans. She commented on embodying the character, revealing, “I see it in the way people talk about Cassie. They often want to hate her (laughs) because of the kind of person she is, but they find themselves unable to. It’s amazing to me that I’m able to take a character who has made so many terrible decisions and make people feel for her and understand those decisions. When I first started playing her, I connected to how she makes decisions very drastically and from the heart.”

Here at Glitter, we want to congratulate Sydney Sweeney on her well-deserved two Emmy nominations. The Emmy Awards will air live this fall on September 12 on NBC and will also stream live on Peacock. Fans surely do not want to miss this upcoming awards season.
