For the 2022 Emmy Awards, Stranger Things is nominated for 13 awards, including the award for Outstanding Drama Series. Better Call Saul, Euphoria, Ozark, Severance, Squid Game, Succession, and Yellowjackets are also nominated under this category. Squid Game stands out among them, as it is the only non-English series to ever receive an Emmy nomination. Jung Ho-yeon, an actress cast as Kang Sae-byeok in Squid Game, is also nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the Emmys.

Although Stranger Things is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, the cast of Stranger Things is not endorsed by the Emmy Jurors. Despite making Stranger Things “outstanding,” the actors were not given any special nominations for their performance. Under the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series category, Sadie Sink and Millie Bobby Brown were both sent in for their performance in the show’s latest season, yet neither of the two got nominated.

As Variety commented, this result is “a shock to those who believed that, at the very least, Sadie Sink was a shoo-in among the 22 ‘Stranger Things’ cast members submitted for noms.”

Sadie Sink’s performance in Stranger Things‘ fourth episode of Season 4, “Chapter Four: Dear Billy,” received the world’s recognition. She depicts her character’s battle to survive in the episode with tremendous care and attention to detail. Her monologue at Billy’s grave deeply moved the audience. The powerful performance she offered sparked the discussion surrounding this year’s Emmy Awards nominations. Stranger Things fans believe that she gives “the performance of a lifetime,” and she is, of course, Emmy award-worthy.

However, as Variety points out, it turned out that Sadie Sink and Millie Brown were snubbed for this year’s Emmy nomination. Some fans showed their dissatisfaction on Twitter, tweeting that they deserved an Emmy nomination.

However, it’s too early for fans’ hearts to break. Though none of the actors of Stranger Things were nominated this year, it is important to know that this is not the end. Only Volume 1 of Stranger Things Season 4 was eligible for this year’s Emmys since Volume 2 was released later than May 31, when the Emmys selections were cut off. In other words, Volume 2 will participate in the Emmy Awards for next year. This is good news for the young actors and Stranger Things fans. It’s still possible for them to receive acting nominations for their performance in Volume 2 in 2023.

Despite the absence of both Sadie Sink and Millie Bobby Brown on the nomination list, fans can check the video below to see the Television Academy announce all of this year’s Emmy nominations.
