Dancing With the Stars Names Alfonso Ribeiro as a New Co-host
It’s been a whirlwind of changes for Dancing With the Stars. But, fans and cast members alike are gushing over the return of Alfonso Ribeiro for this upcoming season. Good Morning America broke the news that the season 19 champion would return as a co-host alongside Tyra Banks.

In a new video, Ribeiro mentions that he loves the show so much that this season he asked for “a front row seat.” He is met with an eager Banks welcoming him into the family. Ribeiro then shares his excitement for this year’s cast and their fight for the Mirrorball.
After years of petitioning to be a contestant, Alfonso Ribeiro was partnered with Witney Carson in 2014. The couple’s first dance earned them a near-perfect score which was a shock to no one. But the iconic moments happened in the middle of the season when Ribeiro revived the classic “Carlton Dance.” The duo went on to win their season, and Carson was nominated for an Emmy for their freestyle.
Seasons later, Rebeiro returned to the series as a guest host, guest judge, and guest performer for season 24’s “Disney Night,” so fans expect Rebeiro to fit right in.
The reality competition has seen several changes throughout the past few years. Some include a shocking change in hosts and the return of beloved showrunner Conrad Green. This season, the show faces its biggest change as it has moved from ABC to Disney+, making DWTS the platform’s first live show.
The celebrity cast will be revealed on September 8 on Good Morning America. Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars will premiere on September 19 on Disney+.
