Even in the summertime, there seems to be some magic brewing. The Sanderson Sisters will return this fall for round two in the upcoming sequel, Hocus Pocus 2.

The trailer for the long-awaited sequel was announced by Disney+ with a tweet writing, “This Halloween season, some legends never die.”

The Sanderson Sisters are returning in the sequel, with stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprising their iconic roles. The sequel was first confirmed to be under development in 2019. Two years later, in 2021, the film was then announced with a new director, Anne Fletcher. Fletcher is most known for films Step Up and The Proposal.

The highly anticipated film has major shoes to fill from its classic predecessor, Hocus Pocus, which premiered in 1993. The trailer doesn’t give much insight into the film, leaving fans questioning what will occur throughout the film. Fans can take away that two teens Becca (Whitney Peak) and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo) celebrating Becca’s 16th birthday with a birthday ritual, mistakenly bringing the trio back to life. Being away for three decades, fans can only imagine how hungry the sisters are to seek revenge on Salem and wreak havoc on the children of the town.

The film also released its first poster. The poster features the backs of the three sisters with one iconic line “We’re back, witches.”

To say fans were excited would be an understatement.

The trailer also hints that it will be up to the two teens and their classmate Cassie (Lilia Buckingham), to halt the witches from their disastrous plan to ruin Salem. The sequel features new characters coming to life, and some old faces reappearing, like the beloved character Billy Butcherson, who will be played by the original actor Doug Jones. Fans can remember Butcherson as the zombie that was Winifred’s long-lost lover. Butcherson was called on from his grave by the sisters to help aid their plans for capturing the runaway siblings in the original Hocus Pocus.

Disney+ also gave fans a treat with a video showcasing Midler, Parker, and Najimy reacting to the sequel’s trailer.

Hocus Pocus 2 will be released on Disney+ on September 30. As we wait for our three favorite witches to return to the big screen, fans can watch the trailer on repeat below. In the meantime, fans can watch the original Hocus Pocus on Disney+.
