After experiencing the virtual Comic-Con for two years, fans can finally come back to the field, enjoying the biggest fan convention in North America. On July 20, the annual “preview night” will once again kick off Comic-Con, which will go through July 24. According to Variety, this year’s Comic-Con will host more than 130,000 guests. Every visitor will get the opportunity to view a variety of new projects from renowned studios, including Marvel’s much anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law for Disney+.
However, Warner Bros., the entertainment firm that owns DC Films, might not have a massive presence at Comic-Con. According to a Variety article, “the film studio’s Saturday presentation in Hall H — which has run as long as two-and-a-half-hours in past years — will run just an hour.”
Although such news sounds discouraging to DC fans, the surprising message just dropped by Deadline Hollywood will definitely rekindle their passion. The outlet reported that beloved actor, Henry Cavill, will appear at Comic-Con as a part of the Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Hall H panel. Additionally, he might tease his return as Clark Kent/Superman during the event.

Henry Cavill first played Superman in Man of Steel(2013), where he launched the DC Extended Universe together with director Zack Snyder. He then starred in Batman v Superman (2016), Justice League (2017), and most recently in Zach Snyder’s Justice League (2021). However in 2018, as the Hollywood Reporter suggested, “the contract talks between Cavill’s WME reps and the studio broke down.” Since then, this famous British actor has been absent from DCEU. In Shazam! (2019) and Peacemaker(2022), the role of cameoing Superman is left to body doubles.
Although fans have been anticipating his comeback and expecting a Man of Steel 2 for a long time, there was no trustworthy information leaked until recently. Many may think that DC planned far too little for the Comic-Con this year compared to prior ones, but maybe it’s the return of Superman the big news DC wants to deliver to its fans during the Comic-Con. This also corresponds to the information mentioned by Screen Rant earlier, in which it states that “Warner Bros.’ new owners at Discovery view Superman as a character they need to revitalize.”
Fans will have to wait and see what surprise Henry Cavill will bring to this year’s Comic-Con. Updates will come soon.
