Sony Pictures Releases New Poster and Trailer for Devotion

On Monday, August 1, Sony Pictures dropped the new poster and trailer for Devotion, a PG-13 action drama. The film stars Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell, which hits theaters November 23.

According to the official website of Devotion, the film is “an aerial war epic based on the bestselling book of the same name.” The talented American filmmaker J.D. Dillard, who has directed Judy Goose, Sleight, and Sweetheart, directs Devotion from a screenplay penned by Jake Crane & Jonathan A. H. Stewart. The war film is based on the book Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice written by Adam Makos.

The elaborated action film will enable viewers to have a glimpse of the true story of two top U.S. Navy pilots in the Korean War. They made heroic sacrifices during the war, and such braveness finally earned them the title of the two most renowned wingmen in the Navy.

In the trailer, several scenes of fierce flight battle are carefully depicted, precisely suggesting the cruel reality of the war. Though the two soldiers, Tom Hudner (Powell) and Jesse L. Brown (Majors), have never met each other before, in such a life with countless fatal missions, they quickly become the most trustworthy allies. Meanwhile, the teaser also includes various glimpses of flashbacks to their family life. As living human beings, the soldiers also experienced tremendous struggles. However, they still choose to sacrifice themselves, heroically, to “be someone people can count on,” and to “bring everybody home.”

On the new poster, the two leading actors – Majors and Powell – stand next to each other, sporting determined faces. At the bottom of the poster, there are a group of soaring fighters. Among them are three lines, which read, “In America’s forgotten war, they made history.”

Fans took to Twitter to show their enthusiasm about the film. One user wrote, “Can’t wait the trailer looks incredible!”

While the film looks excellent, fans still need to wait several months before being able to view it. The film will first head to the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) beginning on September 8 to have its world premiere. Fans will be able to watch the film a few months later in theaters on November 23.
