Angelina Jolie celebrated her daughter Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt’s acceptance into Spelman College, a prominent HBCU for women in Atlanta, Georgia. She will be attending the fall semester in 2023.

Zahara was adopted by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt when she was only six months old. Jolie previously told CNN that her family is a multi-cultural family consisting of three children from different countries, including Ethiopia, Cambodia, and Vietnam. “We have lots of discussions in the house. My daughter is African. We talk about civil rights, and they look at their sister and think of many years ago how different the relationship to their sister would be,” she commented about the harmony in the family.

Jolie excitedly announced Zahara’s enrollment into Spelman College on Instagram on July 31, writing, “Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.” The photo shows Zahara at a Spelman event, surrounded by her peers.

The Award-winning actress showed her excitement for her daughter by learning “The Electric Slide” in Los Angeles with Spelman and Morehouse alumni.

Zahara’s dad, Brad Pitt, also commented on his daughter’s achievement at the premiere of his new film, Bullet Train. “She’s so smart. She’s going to flourish even more at college. It’s an exciting and beautiful time to find her way and pursue her interests. I’m so proud,” Pitt told Vanity Fair. He described his mixed feelings about his children growing up: “Where does the time go, right? They grow up too fast,” stated the proud dad. “It brings a tear to the eye.”

Zahara is not the first Jolie-Pitt offspring to enroll in a college. Their oldest son, Maddox, is studying biochemistry at Seoul Yonsei University in South Korea.
