Michael Grandage’s film, My Policeman, made history at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The ensemble cast is receiving the first tribute award in the gender-neutral acting category for performance. The film is excitedly making its debut at the 47th annual TIFF Awards.

On August 8, TIFF announced that My Policeman and its cast will be honored for their extraordinary work. The TIFF Awards “honor the film industry’s outstanding contributors and their achievements, recognizing leading industry members, acting talent, directorial expertise, new talent, and a below-the-line artist and creator.”

TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey states of the My Policeman, “When your film shifts through time and across fluid boundaries of love and desire, you need a cast that can embody those nuances in every gesture.” He continues, “Harry Styles, Emma Corrin, and David Dawson deliver beautiful, mirrored performances with Linus Roache, Gina McKee, and Rupert Everett. We’re thrilled to honour the ensemble cast of My Policeman with the TIFF Tribute Award for Performance.”

My Policeman unveiled its first teaser trailer on June 15. Ron Nyswaner penned the script that is based on the novel of the same name authored by Bethan Roberts. The queer romantic drama tells a story of “forbidden love and shifting social conventions.” My Policeman follows three young adults in Brighton during the 1950s – policeman Tom Burgess (Harry Styles), teacher Marion (Emma Corrin), and museum curator Patrick Hazelwood (David Dawson). Later on, viewers will travel to the 1990s with an older Tom (Linus Roache), Marion (Gina McKee), and Patrick (Rupert Everett) struggling with the past.

Here at Glitter, we cannot be happier for the incredible cast of My Policeman on this historic honor. The 47 Annual TIFF Awards will be held on Sunday, September 11 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. My Policeman will arrive in U.S. and U.K. theaters on October 21 and available to stream on Prime Video on November 4. Until then, fans can watch the film’s trailer below.
