Kate McKinnon Discusses Her SNL Exit on The Tonight Show
On August 9, actress-comedian Kate McKinnon stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her new movie DC League of Super-Pets.
When asked about leaving Saturday Night Live (SNL), which she has been a cast member for ten years, McKinnon told Fallon and the audience stories about the pranks she pulled on the show writers that involved her large collections of prosthetic noses and ears.
The nine-time Emmy nominated actress explained that because of the various characters she had to play on the show, she has garnered a large number of prosthetics.
“I started making little art pieces with them in my office,” McKinnon admits. “I said to a writer friend like ‘Oh, come get your Gatorade. It’s in my office,’ and then I sort of had made that.”
A photo of a Gatorade bottle with a bunch of prosthetic noses and ears attached is flashed towards the camera.
Fallon also asked McKinnon if she’s ready for a life without SNL, to which she responded “I’d like to think so. My cat has been like, ‘Oh, now you’re home. After a decade of you being gone, out all hours, now you’re home.”
The 38-year-old star joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in the middle of season 38 in April 2012. It was announced a day before the season 47 finale that McKinnon, along with fellow castmates, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Pete Davidson were leaving the show. During her ten-year run on the show, she had the opportunity to play prominent figures such as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Justin Bieber, and Ellen DeGeneres.
Here at Glitter, we are so excited to see what Kate McKinnon does next after her amazing tenure on Saturday Night Live. Her newest film DC League of Super-Pets is now out in theaters. Fans can watch her full interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon below.
