The Weeknd is known to give the crowd a show wherever he goes, but this time the show couldn’t go on after the Toronto native experienced a spontaneous health concern during a stop on his “After Hours ‘Til Dawn” tour. Just minutes into his SoFi Stadium concert, he appeared to have lost his voice.

During a performance of the Dawn FM single, “Sacrifice,” The Weeknd ran to the top of his elaborate set and let out a scream that was sure to get the crowd excited. Unfortunately, as he let out the scream, his voice went with it. He evidently struggled to finish the song and ran off the stage.

Shortly after, he returned to the stage and broke the news to the fans that he would have to cut the concert short. He stated, “I don’t know what just happened when I screamed, but I just lost my voice. This is killing me, and I don’t want to stop the show.”

He then promised that all ticket holders would receive full refunds and a rescheduled concert. After staring at the crowd with a devastated expression on his face and removing his earpieces to hear the crowd, The Weeknd ended with, “You know how much this kills me. I’m sorry. I love you. Thank you so much.”

Later that night, he took to Twitter to apologize again to his fans. His post stated, “My voice went out during the first song, and I’m devastated. Felt it go, and my heart dropped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.”

Some fans did take to social media to express disappointment and even anger; however, it’s crucial to understand that artists are human, too, and health should always come first. Speaking of, The Weeknd just posted an update, and it should bring fans some cheer.

His post mentions that his “doctor says my voice is safe and with rest i’ll be solid and able to bring the show my TORONTO fans are waiting for. LA date is being worked out soon. thank you SO much for all the love and understanding that’s come my way. i love you all so much… XO.”
