My Policeman Releases Sultry New Trailer Starring Harry Styles
Michael Grandage’s film, My Policeman, has shared a new trailer. The queer romantic drama finds Harry Styles struggling to stay afloat after he finds himself in a complicated love triangle.
On September 7, viewers watched Harry Styles as Tom Burgess, a closeted cop who begins a tumultuous affair with Patrick Hazelwood, the museum curator (David Dawson), all while married to a schoolteacher, Marion (Emma Corrin). The film tells a story of “forbidden love and shifting social conventions.”

After the initial teaser was released on June 15, fans finally got a little more than a tease. The trailer begins with Tom (Styles) professing to Marion (Corrin), “I want you to be my wife.” A series of snapshots showcase the couple happy and in love, but that is all about to change.
The trailer progresses into an intense roller coaster where emotions are put to the test. Styles’ character says in a voiceover, “This love is all-consuming. I pity people who don’t know what it feels like to be this in love.” As Tom embarks on this secret relationship, Marion watches from the sidelines, heartbroken. She cries out with her voice breaking, “He’s trying to destroy our marriage.”

The film will transition into the ’90s with an older Tom (Linus Roache), Marion (Gina McKee), and Patrick (Rupert Everett) struggling with the devastating impact of their actions. Michael Grandage describes Tom as “a character who is confused. It’s made more problematic by the fact that he’s a policeman, and he’s in a career that is about upholding the law.” During this time, homosexuality was illegal, and Tom is trying to grapple with the anxieties of living as a closeted gay man in a society that does not accept him.

My Policeman made history last month at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The ensemble cast received the first tribute award in the gender-neutral acting category for performance. Here at Glitter, we cannot be more excited to see this heartbreaking film. My Policeman will arrive in U.S. and U.K. theaters on October 21 and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on November 4. Until then, fans can watch the latest trailer below.
