Selma Blair Stuns With New Dancing With the Stars Debut
Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars just kicked off, and as always, we laughed, cheered, and cried. Actress Selma Blair performed a breathtaking Viennese Waltz that oozed grace and courage.
Blair and her pro partner Sasha Farber danced to David Cook’s “Time of My Life” in stunning light pink and purple outfits that sparkled under the ballroom lights. In her pre-performance package, Blair mentioned how excited she is to do the show but is concerned because her MS causes balance issues and moments where her body may freeze up involuntarily.
They began the piece upstage with Blair leaving her cane behind, and the next 80 seconds were pure magic. Farber spun her across the floor as confetti fell over them, which is a moment that judge Bruno Tonioli called “a scene out of Frozen.” Once their dance was over, Blair embraced Farber in a hug, released a sigh of accomplishment, and took her bow.
As the crowd cheered, the camera panned to various audience members and fellow contestants like Jordin Sparks, pro-Emma Slater, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba. They, much like the at-home audience, were all brought to tears. The judges praised Blair for her elegance and strength, which ultimately landed the pair in third place with a score of 27/40.
Later that night, the Legally Blonde actress took to Instagram to express her gratitude again. In her week one dance video, she stated, “This night will go under my pillow of sweet dreams for the rest of my life. My thanks is immeasurable 💜 @sashafarber1 @disneyplus @dancingwiththestars thank you to all of you who voted and watched ✨✨✨”
Contestant Shangela, who is in a third-place tie with Blair, left a heartwarming comment stating, “Not a dry eye in the house. Sister, you gave the world A MOMENT that defined Strength over Adversity. Courage in the face of Challenge. You are a champion ❤️”
After a stunning week one performance, fans can not wait to see what Blair does for next week’s “Elvis Night.” You can catch Dancing With the Stars live every Monday at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT, exclusively on Disney+.
