News of the musical adaptation arrived the day before Hocus Pocus 2‘s release on Disney+. Set thirty years after the original film, Hocus Pocus 2 features an entirely new cast joining the Sanderson sisters in Salem. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker will reprise their roles as sisters. New stars Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, and Lilia Buckingham will be joining them. Doug Jones will also return to his role as Billy in the sequel.
However, the original Hocus Pocus stars, Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw, and Thora Birch will not appear in the new film. The sequel will also see a change of director, switching from Kenny Ortega to Anne Fletcher.
