Weyes Blood Shares New Single ‘Grapevine’
Weyes Blood is back with more music. Natalie Mering, who performs under the stage name Weyes Blood, shared the second single to her forthcoming album, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow.
After three years of waiting, fans of Weyes Blood were given a promising update. Last month, she announced the upcoming album and tour. The “Movies” singer explained in a letter that Titantic Rising, her fourth studio album, began what would be called a special trilogy in her discography. The second installment, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow, began its era with the single, “It’s Not Just Me, It’s Everybody.”
On October 10, the singer shared the second single “Grapevine.” The song is a gorgeous five-and-a-half-minute-long journey, chronicling a relationship’s end. She states on the track, “Technology is harvesting our attention away from each other. We all have a ‘Grapevine’ entwined around our past with unresolved wounds and pain. Being in love doesn’t necessarily mean being together. Why else do so many love songs yearn for a connection?”
In an Instagram post announcing the single, she hopes that fans will play the slow tune “in their car while driving late at night.” Her voice effortlessly blends in with various instruments, including acoustic guitars, synths, bells, mellotrons, strings, and in-the-pocket drums.
Weyes Blood’s upcoming record, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow, releases on November 18 via Sub Pop Records. Be sure to secure tickets to one of her many shows in 2023. Her latest single “Grapevine” is available to stream on all major music platforms.
