Blake Shelton Says Goodbye to The Voice After 12 Years
NBC announced that the next season of The Voice will be Blake Shelton’s last.
Country music star Blake Shelton who has been a coach for NBC’s singing competition show, The Voice, for over a decade, just announced that this upcoming season will be his last. “I’ve been wrestling with this for a while, and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after next season,” Shelton stated in an Instagram post.
Shelton thanked everyone that is a part of The Voice, “It’s been a h*ll of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best.”
The country singer finished his statement by thanking his fans, “Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who watch and support these artists, us coaches, and everyone at The Voice who are chasing their dreams.”

The Voice has aired on NBC since 2011. It puts a spin on the traditional singing competition show by having the judge’s chairs facing away from the performer, focusing solely on their voice and not their appearance. Shelton is the only remaining judge from the original panel.
Season 23 will be introducing new coaches Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper. Horan teased his fans with a cryptic post on his Instagram, where NBC’s The Voice commented with side-eye emoji.
“I’m excited to be joining this season of The Voice as a coach,” stated Horan. “I’m looking forward to meeting and mentoring the new crop of talent while we battle it out with the other teams!”
