People We Meet on Vacation is Henry’s sixth novel and was published in 2020 by Berkley Books. The romantic comedy follows two best friends, Poppy and Alex. Poppy is a bubbly free spirit and Alex is an introvert who likes to stay inside and read. They could not be any more different, but once a year, they combine their strengths and go on a fabulous vacation together.

Although People We Meet on Vacation is Henry’s sixth book, it is only her second piece of adult fiction. Her other notable works include Beach Read and Book Lovers, both of which revolve around the lovesick characters’ affection for literature. Henry’s novels have dominated best sellers lists and gone viral on social media. Her readers have been anxious for the beloved romance, People We Meet on Vacation, to come to life.

Director, Brett Haley, is no stranger to popular novel adaptations. Haley directed All the Bright Places in 2020, adapted from Jennifer Niven’s book of the same name. He also directed an episode of Looking for Alaska, a series developed from John Green’s bestseller. The director’s other notable credits include Hearts Beat Loud, starring Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons.

Yulin Kuang is known for her screenwriting on Hulu’s Dollface and Netflix’s The Healing Power of the Dude. According to Deadline, Henry confirmed Kuang is spearheading the screenplay for Henry’s novel with Marty Bowen, Wyck, Godfrey, and Isaac Klausner from Temple Hill Productions. Laura Quicksilver will also oversee the project along with Sophie Kaplan and Erin Siminoff from 3000 Studios.

In addition to her support on social media, Henry expressed her excitement for the film in her newsletter. She stated, “We have our director, Brett Haley. I love him. We have our screenwriter, Yulin Kuang. I love her. We have our script. And I love it so much […].” No details about the film such as the cast or release date have been shared.
