Sydney Sweeney Is Attached to the New Barbarella Remake
Sydney Sweeney is getting ready to be the next queen of the galaxy. The two-time Emmy-nominated actress is slated to star and executive produce a Barbarella remake.
On October 11, Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney took to Instagram to post a classic photo of Jane Fonda from the 1968 sci-fi film, Barbarella. She simply writes, “Time to save the universe.” The film directed by Roger Vadim was based on Jean-Claude Forest’s French comic book series.

The remake has no further plot developments, with no writer or director in place. Sweeney is the only confirmed actress and executive producer for the new film. Barbarella follows “an astronaut from the 41st century who sets out to find and stop the evil scientist Durand Durand, whose Positronic Ray threatens to bring evil back into the galaxy.”
Barbarella featured Claude Dauphin (President of Earth), Jane Fonda (Barbarella), David Hemmings (Dildano), John Phillip Law (Pygar), Marcel Marceau (Professor Ping), Serge Marquand (Captain Sun), Milo O’Shea (Durand Durand), Anita Pallenburg (The Great Tyrant), Ugo Tognazzi (Mark Hand), and Véronique Vendell (Captain Moon).
