Chris Evans Crowned People’s New Sexiest Man Alive

Chris Evans has officially been named 2022 People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.” The magazine announced the news Monday night, along with a new photoshoot of the actor. 

Chris Evans is known for portraying Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and landed the role in 2011. Evans, 41, is succeeding Paul Rudd, a fellow MCU star, for the prestigious title of People’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”

Stephen Colbert announced that Evans would be the “Sexiest Man Alive” during The Late Show on Monday night. This is the second year Colbert has broken the news on behalf of People Magazine. The host feigned a contest between Evans and John Oliver for the award since Oliver was the guest appearing that night.

Evans could not appear on the show, but he shared a message through a video. He appeared in a bit with former 2016 “Sexiest Man Alive” winner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson jokes with Evans about not giving up the title and asks Evans to say something sexy, to which Evans replies: “go vote tomorrow.”

People shared an exclusive interview with Evans alongside his new cover shoot. The Lightyear star jokingly expressed his conflicted feelings toward being “Sexiest Man Alive,” calling it “a weird form of humble bragging.” 

He discussed his upcoming projects with the publication as well. Currently, Evans is filming three movies. Perhaps most notably, he is starring in and producing a new Apple TV+ feature, Ghosted. 

Evans also touched on a subject many of his fans frequently wonder about, his love life. The Gray Man actor expressed on marriage and fatherhood, “That’s absolutely something I want.” Although he seems to want to keep his private life to himself, adding, “Some things you want just for you, or just for my family and my friends.”

In addition to a busy schedule of filming and being sexy, Evans also focuses a lot on philanthropy. People covered his ongoing interest in promoting political outreach. He is a co-owner of the civic engagement platform, A Starting Point. The site’s description reads, “ASP’s mission is to create a bipartisan channel of communication and connectivity between Americans and their elected officials with the goal of creating a more informed electorate.”

Perhaps most importantly, Evans mentioned to the publication how proud his mother is of him being the”Sexiest Man Alive.” Acknowledging how his new status will benefit his mom, he stated, “She’s proud of everything I do, but this is something she can really brag about.”
