Ashley Tisdale to Star in New Comedy Series Brutally Honest
Ashley Tisdale is returning to the screen for the first time since becoming a mom. In development with CBS, the new comedy series, titled Brutally Honest, is loosely based on Tisdale’s life. The actress confirmed Deadline‘s announcement of the series on Thursday.
Tisdale is partnering with Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern to create the series. The High School Musical star previously worked with the duo and CBS on Carol’s Second Act.
Deadline reported that Tisdale will also be an executive producer for Brutally Honest. As for Haskins and Halpern, the veteran producers are teaming up for the project after their most recent success in feature films. The two co-created the script for Booksmart and the upcoming Paramount+ film 80 for Brady.
Carol’s Second Act, which aired from 2019 to 2020, was Tisdale’s most recent television role. She has not participated in many new acting projects since welcoming her daughter, Jupiter, with her husband, Christopher French, in 2021.
Since then, Tisdale has created a line of wellness products called Frenshe. Wanting to live a toxic-free lifestyle, she crafted the brand to make eco-friendly products more affordable. Frenshe products are sold at Target, or directly from the brand’s site.
In a note from the star on the Frenshe site, she states, “Wellness is for everyone.” The site also includes a mission statement that reads, “At Frenshe, our goal is to uncomplicate wellness and empower our audience to their best, authentic selves.”
Tisdale posted on her Instagram stories after news of Brutally Honest broke, exclaiming that she’s “so excited.” No further details of the series have been released yet.
