Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Makes History With Successful Opening Weekend
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever might be the biggest film of the year. This record-breaking movie is now November’s highest-grossing opening of all time.
Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever rose to $330 million globally after opening weekend, which beat Disney’s prediction of $170 million and surpassed the previous Black Panther opening weekend of $202 million domestically. The Ryan Coogler-directed film ran for 2 hours and 41 minutes and is now the third-best opener since the pandemic’s start. It is also the second-biggest global opening this year, trailing behind Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The sequel to Marvel’s first predominantly Black superhero film was considered emotional, breathtaking, and filled with pure excellence.
Ryan Coogler learning how to swim so he could join the actors and cameras and direct the scenes in the water is one of my favorite things I’ve learned about the making of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Namor, the Mesoamerican king of Talokan, gives a powerful introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the first Indigenous Latin American character in the MCU, and it was portrayed by The Forever Purge star, Tenoch Huerta. In an interview with Los Angeles Times, Tenoch expressed what the film means to him, stating, “It’s a brown-skinned guy. This ancient culture is in his roots. And he speaks like me. We are making history. I told them, ‘Let’s do something to be proud of.'”
Tenoch will woo audiences w/his extraordinary acting skills giving powerful Thor, Hulk vibes. His presence at times reminded me of my younger self seeing Zod, Ursa, Non for the first time. He gave that much weight to his character, making him one for the books. #WakandaForever pic.twitter.com/SkFhh6Bw8t
