Lizzo Gifts TikTok Fan Her Beautiful Emmys Dress

Not many fans can say Lizzo personally shipped her custom Giambattista Valli dress to them. Thanks to the power of TikTok, published writer, Aurielle Marie, can.

It is no secret that TikTok has been one of the most influential apps for the past three years. The app’s abundance of trends, advice, and life hacks provides users with entertainment and education at the touch of a button. However, TikTok is also known for connecting celebrities to their fans. The quick algorithm and short video format allow anyone a chance to reach the “for you page,” which can be seen by your favorite celebrity.

For Aurielle Marie, this was her golden opportunity to try her luck at this phenomenon. Marie is the award-winning author of Gumbo Ya Ya, a collection of poems that paint her experience as a plus-size, Queer, Black women in the contemporary South.

Her accomplishments as a writer led her to be selected as one of Out Magazine’s 100, a compilation of the year’s most influential LGBTQ+ people. Although she’s excited to receive the award, Marie found herself in a predicament many women know all too well. She could not find any outfit special enough to commemorate this amazing honor.

This situation gave Aurielle Marie the bright idea to reach out to Lizzo via TikTok. Lizzo never fails to stunt for the big girls at every red carpet event, making her the perfect person for Marie to reach out to during her fashion emergency.

Marie had her eye set on the beautiful red custom tulle Giambattista Valli dress that Lizzo wore for this year’s Emmys. Although weary of Lizzo’s impending reply, Marie posted a video to plead her case for the special event.

“But I figured the worst you could say is no”, Marie remarked as she put her bravery to the test. In the video, she praised Lizzo as the inspiration behind her audacious advocacy for plus-size women.

Well, the TikTok gods answered Aurielle Marie’s algorithm prayers. Two weeks later, Marie returned to TikTok and gave her audience a surprising update. The beautiful gown arrived at her doorstep in careful packaging and she showed TikTok audiences the unboxing.

Many hearts were filled with joy as they watched Marie try on the dress. An emotionally grateful Marie cried tears of joy when she saw herself in her idol’s dress. Eventually, she basked in how amazing the dress looked on her with her wife by her side. We hope to see footage of Marie rocking the Out 100‘s red carpet soon.

Both Marie and Lizzo’s fans were amazed by her act of kindness. Understandably, celebrities don’t usually interact with fans in such an intimate way. As a public figure, it’s difficult to extend kindness to everyone because a big star brings an even bigger fanbase.

Her Emmy-winning show, Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls, extended an opportunity for 13 plus-sized women to compete to be part of her backup dancers. The 10 women who were selected could join The Big Grrrls on Lizzo’s next tour. It is lovely to see a celebrity such as Lizzo create space for other plus-sized Black women to feel beautiful.
