The Noel Diary Best-Selling Holiday Novel Is Now a Movie
With the holidays coming up, It’s that time of year again when we find new festive movies to watch. Luckily, Netflix is coming out with a movie based on Richard Paul Evan’s novel The Noel Diary on November 24.
The film follows the life of Jacob Churcher, who was kicked out of his house by his estranged mother. 20 years later, a lawyer calls and tells him his mother had just passed away, leaving him her estate.
Churcher returns home not only to settle his mother’s estate, but to also come to terms with the abuse and trauma he experienced as a child. Upon going through his mother’s clutter, he discovers a diary by Noel, a woman who had stayed with thier family in the past. He then meets Rachel, who is also trying to uncover the secrets of her childhood.
Justin Hartley (This Is Us) is starring in the all-new holiday film as the male lead, Jacob Churcher. Barrett Doss (Station 19) is co-starring alongside Justin Hartley as his love interest, Rachel, and the two characters share a Christmas romance.

Also joining the cast are Essence Atkins (First Wives Club), James Remar (Black Lightning), and Bonnie Bedelia (Parenthood). Not only are these three actors starring in the upcoming movie, but they also starred in a previous action-packed Christmas movie called Die Hard. Essence Atkins and James Remar embody the role of Justin Hartley’s parents, while Bonnie Bedelia acts as their neighbor.
The Noel Diary is directed by Academy Award nominee, Charles Shyer. He has directed many romantic films, such as The Parent Trap and The Father of the Bride. Fans of Shyer’s work will for sure fall in love with his upcoming film adaptation.

This Netflix film is just the beginning. Richard Paul Evans’ novel is the first part of The Noel Collection. After all, if you end up wanting more after seeing the upcoming movie, you may or may not be expecting sequels.
