The Super Mario Bros. Movie Premieres a Colorful Official Trailer
Mario and Luigi face off against Bowser once again in the animated film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which will bring your childhood to the big screen in 2023.
Nintendo and Illumination invite us to the wonderful world of the Mushroom Kingdom once more. This action-comedy is based on the renowned arcade console game, Super Mario Bros. Created in 1985 by Japanese game manufacturer, Nintendo, it quickly became a worldwide classic. Italian plumber brothers, Mario and Luigi, venture through many galaxies to ward off villains and save Princess Peach from Bowser.
Of course, in this vast world, these brothers are not alone and have many friends join their fight along the way. In the original console game, the “final boss” King Bowser would capture Princess Peach to assert his dominance over the kingdom. The game is only completed when the player makes it through all the levels, defeats King Bowser and rescues the beloved princess.
The animated movie set to premiere in April 2023 follows a similar plot amid Bowser’s devious plan to take over. However, this time Princess Peach joins the journey against Bowser alongside Mario and Toad.
The newly released trailer gives a first look at fan-favorite characters such as Toad, Donkey Kong, Luigi, and many more. This vibrant trailer reveals the beauty and magic of many galaxies of the Super Mario Bros. world. These immersive visuals are juxtaposed against Bowser’s fiery, harsh kingdom and his Koopa soldiers.
According to the official website, the film stars Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Seth Rogan (Donkey Kong), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and many more. Directors Aaron Horath and Michael Jelenic collaborated to direct this movie, as they have done with Teen Titans Go! in the past, while Matthew Fogel (The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) wrote the screenplay. Furthermore, Illumination’s founder and CEO Chris Meledandri produced the film alongside Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto.
This movie is perfect for all ages, both nostalgic for adults and an introduction to the Mushroom Kingdom for young viewers. Movie and game lovers alike should be sure to catch this film when it releases in theaters on April 7, 2023. In the meantime, view the official trailer down below.
