Netflix has finally released a premiere date for its next royal production. The Sussex Royals docuseries, Harry & Meghan, will hit Netflix on December 8.

After releasing a teaser for the series last week, Netflix confirmed a release date and dropped an official trailer on Monday. Harry & Meghan will come out in two parts, with six episodes total. Volume one will premiere on December 8, including episodes 1-3, and volume two will follow on December 15 for the final three episodes.

Liz Garbus is directing and producing the series, collaborating with the Duke and Duchess’ production company Archewell and Diamond Docs. Erica Sashin, Mark Monroe, Dan Cogan, Ben Browning, Chanel Pysnik, Jon Bardin, Mala Chapple, and Angus Wall also are listed as producers.

The trailer for Harry & Meghan gave prospective viewers a greater insight into what the teaser began to cover. Opening with how much fans of the Royal family initially loved Meghan, the trailer quickly switches to show how fans turned on her. Netflix mentioned in the series description that friends, family, historians, and Royal professionals would weigh in on the couple’s situation for the first time, and the trailer confirms that right away.

Next, an interview clip can be heard, with someone stating, “there was a war against Meghan to suit other people’s agendas.” Another interview clip adds, “it’s about hatred. It’s about race.” The way the pressure of royalty and racism affected the Duchess is something fans have been waiting to hear.

The preview for the series then segues into similarities between the family and the media’s treatment of Markle and Princess Diana. Prince Harry states, “It’s a dirty game. The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy” as media attacks on the present and former princesses are shown. The Duke of Sussex then solemnly adds, “I was terrified. I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”

Fan reactions to Netflix’s announcement varied. However, many fans expressed support for the couple and their endeavors to tell their story.

The first three episodes of Harry & Meghan will be released on December 8. Until then, viewers can find the trailer for the series below
