The Princess Diaries Is Returning to the Screen
The Princess Diaries, a beloved childhood classic, is back for a third movie. The talented Anne Hathaway (Armageddon Time) and Julie Andrews (Bridgerton) gained popularity from this nostalgic film.
Since the 2001 and 2004 film adaptations of Meg Cabot’s book series The Princess Diaries came out, they have been considered childhood favorites. Both The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement has received successful reviews, and we are excited to see what The Princess Diaries 3 has to offer.
If you have not seen The Princess Diaries, Mia Thermopolis, portrayed by Hathaway, finds out that she is the princess of a European country called Genovia. Her grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi, portrayed by Andrews, gives Mia princess lessons so she is ready to ascend to the throne of Genovia.

It was recently announced that The Princess Diaries 3 is currently in the works, but the cast has not been disclosed yet. As of now, Julie Andrews has reported that, sadly, she will not be coming back. It was also reported that Mandy Moore (This Is Us) as Lana Thomas may also be coming back. We are hoping that Anne Hathaway will be reprising her role as Mia Thermopolis, especially since she has mentioned that she would gladly return if there were to be the third movie.
Anne Hathaway stated, “I would more than entertain it, I’m pulling for it. If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen.”
It would be a dream come true for all fans of this classic film if Anne Hathaway and Mandy Moore return to the screen together. Many fans are eager to see the original cast come back for the movie, but for now, they will just have to wait and see.
