Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney Board New Rom-Com From Will Gluck
The rom-com genre is back. Will Gluck, the director behind films such as Easy A and Friends with Benefits, has chosen his leads for his latest untitled rom-com: Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney.
On January 11, Sony Pictures announced they had acquired an “R-rated romantic comedy from Will Gluck.” Although the film’s title and plot have been kept under wraps, the project will be based on Ilana Wolpert’s script, which Gluck is rewriting.
During the Golden Globes carpet, Powell revealed in an interview that he is looking forward to his latest project. He states, “I am about to start a movie with Sydney Sweeney at the start of February, so we’re doing like a rom-com together in Australia.” He adds that he is “super excited.”
The Euphoria actress echoes her co-star’s sentiments, writing, “See you soon, mate.”

After becoming a two-time Emmy nominee for her work in Euphoria and The White Lotus, Sweeney has quickly cemented herself as a highly in-demand actor at Sony Pictures. The studio sought her for the upcoming Marvel film, Madame Webb, alongside Dakota Johnson. She is also slated to star as the queen of the galaxy in a new Barbarella remake, a role that was famously portrayed by Jane Fonda.
Powell, on the other hand, is no stranger to the rom-com genre. The actor established himself as a fan-favorite in the romance scene after starring in Set It Up opposite Zoey Deutch (Something from Tiffany’s). The 2018 film also featured Pete Davidson, Taye Diggs, and Lucy Liu.

We cannot be more excited to watch Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney in a rom-com. In the meantime, fans can stream Set It Up on Netflix and Euphoria on HBO Max.
