2023 Oscars Nominates the Most Stellar Performances of the Year

The Oscars are the most exciting time for the film industry, but nothing beats the anticipation of refreshing your phone every few seconds to see if your favorite artists made the list. Ahead of the 95 Academy Awards, on March 12, the nominees were just announced as some hit films dominated the categories while others were unjustly cut from the list.

Unfortunately, this year’s nomination list didn’t come without its snubs. Some of the most shocking snubs include Viola Davis being left out of the Best Actress category for her work in The Woman King. Danielle Deadwyler, who gave an excellent performance as Mammie Till in Till, was also left off of the list for Best Actress.

The most frustrating snub was the exclusion of female nominees in the Best Director category, with the work from those like Sarah Polley (Women Talking), Gina Prinve-Bythewood (The Woman King), and Chinonye Chukwu (Till). Many expected to see a category packed with female talent, so this exclusion is unfortunate, to say the least.

Nonetheless, most of the nominees on this list have had stellar performances that have been talked about heavily all year long.

Leading the pack is the A24 film, Everything Everywhere All at Once, with a whopping 11 nominations, followed by All Quiet on the Western Front and The Banshees Inisherin are tied with nine. Austin Butler’s exceptional performance helped Elvis reach eight nominations, while The Fablemans earned seven. Tár and Top Gun Maverick received six nominations, and the highly-awaited film Black panther: Wakanda Forever has five nominations.

Check out the rest of this year’s Oscars nominees below. The 95 annual Oscars are on March 12 at 8:00 PM on ABC.
