Lifetime has made it its mission to uplift and amplify the voices and stories that often go unheard. Black Girl Missing is an example of that effort. The film is inspired by real stories of missing women of color in America and highlights the problems faced with trying to bring them home. The film stars Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Garcelle Beauvais, who is also executive producing the film. In addition, she’ll also be featured in a new PSA for the Black and Missing Foundation that will be part of the films.

Beauvais will portray Cheryl, a mother whose daughter, Lauren (Iyala Halley), has gone missing. To make matters worse, she receives little to no support from authorities or the media, who have focused their attention on a missing white girl.

After dismissing Lauren’s case and labeling her a runaway, a desperate Cheryl and her 15-year-old daughter, Marley (Taylor Mosby), enlist the help of a dedicated community of amateur detectives to try and bring Lauren back home. They cross paths with local reporter Elise (Linda Park), who attempts to help Cheryl against her boss’s orders.

The Black and Missing Foundation founders, Derrica and Natalie Wilson, serve as consultants on the film. The nonprofit organization aims to bring awareness to missing women of color, provide vital resources and tools to families, and educate the minority community on personal safety. Following the movie’s premiere, Lifetime will debut Beyond The Headlines: Black Girl Missing to continue the conversation. This special will feature interviews with families of missing Black women and the involvement of the Missing Foundation in their cases.

Black Girl Missing will premiere Saturday, March 4, at 7 p.m. CT. on Lifetime.
