Creator of Heartstopper Teases the Show’s Inevitable Happy Ending
The creator of Heartstopper, Alice Oseman, speaks up about how she has always known what direction the beloved series will go and where the characters might end up.
Written and created by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) as they come to terms with their growing romantic relationship while dealing with societal pressures. The show follows the two boys as they navigate school and new friendships. In a recent interview with Attitude, Oseman explained that “I’ve known for ages exactly how Heartstopper is going to end.” In anticipation of Season two, this news is a whirlwind for fans. Oseman described the ending, “I’m not going to spoil anything, but I mean it’s a happy ending. I feel like everyone knows that.” Since the show first aired in April 2022, fans have shown their love and support for the Netflix series. The Heartstopper series has positively represented the LGBTQIA+ community with its influential writing and characters.

In a recent interview with British GQ, Kit Connor (Rocketman) and Joe Locke, the lead actors in Heartstopper, re-watched some of the most memorable scenes from season one. This interview came at a perfect time for fans that have been waiting to hear more about season two since it wrapped filming in December. In an Instagram post by creator Alice Oseman, she shared that after months of hard work, the series has finally gone into post-production.
With a teenage cast playing the lead roles, younger fans have been able to connect with the characters on a deeper level. When asked how Oseman feels about being a best-selling children’s author, she responded, “the fact that so many people around the world have connected to it and have enjoyed it is a really special thing.”
The anticipation for Heartstopper season two is at an all-time high. It’s exciting to hear that our favorite characters, Nick and Charlie, are more than likely to have a happy ending.
