Rebel Wilson: Pitch Perfect Contract Controlled Her Weight for Years

Rebel Wilson claims that her Pitch Perfect contract restricted her weight from gaining or losing more than 10 pounds. She opened up about her weight loss journey in a recent episode of Spotify’s hit podcast series, Call Her Daddy.

During her interview, Wilson revealed that despite her desire to improve her lifestyle, she “couldn’t lose a massive amount of weight because it was in the contracts for that movie.” Her role Patricia “Fat Amy” Horton, in the movie was a member of The Bellas, a college a cappella group.

She first starred in Pitch Perfect, in 2012 and reprised her role for the second, and third movies, till 2017. Alongside the comedic actress, the franchise movie also cast Anna Kendrick, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp, Elizabeth Banks, and Skylar Astin.

Although she loved portraying comic roles, her weight clause with the movie made her feel like she “was stereotyped in performing that fat, funny friend.” She added, “I did want to do more things but felt like being the bigger girl, you’re just more pigeonholed.” 

Furthermore, Wilson admits that her limitations with the weight clause delayed the change she wanted for a healthier lifestyle, “I did wait until Pitch Perfect seemed like it was over.”

Back in January 2020, Wilson wished her Instagram followers a happy new year and revealed that her resolution for 2020 was to make it her “Year of Health.” She indeed reach her goal and seemed very happy with her lifestyle changes.

In an interview with People Magazine, Wilson’s hope of motherhood inspired her to work towards her fitness goals. She shared her weight loss journey with her Instagram followers, Wilson made sure to let them know that it’s important to love, and never go hard on yourself.

She sums up the key to a happy, yet healthy lifestyle, with an Instagram post that she captions, “If you’re like me just know YOU are more than just your weight, your weight doesn’t define you, just try your best to be healthy and don’t be so hard on yourself 💗 Be the best version of you 💗.”
