Emma Corrin to Play New Mystery Villain in Deadpool 3
Emmy-nominated The Crown star Emma Corrin will join Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3, coming to theaters in late 2024. While their official role has yet to be announced, Marvel has confirmed that they will play an antagonist to Wolverine and Deadpool. Surprisingly, even more of an antagonist than Wolverine will be to Deadpool. Here’s what we know about the actor so far.
The Welcome Committee
Joining the star-studded cast of Deadpool 3 — featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their roles as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively — is Emma Corrin. Corrin, who uses they/them pronouns, had their first big break as Princess Diana in season 4 of Netflix’s The Crown. Their new Marvel role is sure to give audiences a chance to see another side of the star, but exactly how their role will play out is unclear.
Corrin’s co-star, Ryan Reynolds, welcomed Corrin to the cast of Deadpool in a cheerful Valentine’s Day tweet. “New addition to the family!” he wrote, adding, “[It’s] just like a real family except with less swearing…” He followed the warm message with two swords beside a heart, which could hint at the weaponry Corrin’s villain may wield. Deadpool’s katanas, anyone?

The message was received enthusiastically by Corrin, who posted on their Instagram later the same day. “Beyond honored to join this bonkers family…I can’t wait,” captioned Corrin.
Emma Corrin’s Other Ventures
While this is Corrin’s first foray into the MCU, they were previously associated with the DCEU. They portrayed Esme Winikus in the first season of Epix‘s Pennyworth, which served as an origin story for Batman’s famed butler. Corrin’s character was a recurrent feature on the show and a love interest to the titular character.

Corrin additionally portrayed lead roles in 2022’s My Policeman and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, the latter of which received rave reviews. Rotten Tomatoes’ critics’ consensus for the film reads, “Arguably the best screen version of the oft-adapted tale, Lady Chatterley’s Lover sets itself apart with solid acting and a refreshingly frank treatment of the story’s mature themes.”
Given Corrin’s past on-screen successes, we don’t doubt that Corrin will bring their A-game to Deadpool 3. The current release date for the film is November 8, 2024.
