A24 Drops New Trailer for Romance Film Past Lives
A beautiful trailer for the new romantic drama Past Lives was released on the official A24 Instagram earlier today.
A24, a 49-time Oscar-nominated company, has released a trailer for another stunning movie. The film, Past Lives, follows two childhood friends who must reconcile their past after being separated during emigration from South Korea. Directed by Celine Song, the film centers around Nora, played by Greta Lee, Hae Sung, played by Teo Yoo, and Arthur, played by John Magaro.
On their official Instagram, A24 released a trailer that showcased their typical lovely cinematography, heart-wrenching dialogue, and unique storylines. Additionally, the film familiarizes audiences with underutilized actors, breathing fresh air into an industry that often suffers from ‘same-face’ syndrome.
The film has been highly praised following its world debut at Sundance Film Festival in January. One review in an article from Vox claims that “it’s hard to imagine Past Lives not being one of 2023’s most talked-about films, and it richly deserves the honor.”
Fans on Twitter have expressed excitement at the prospect of another A24 drama, and those who were lucky enough to see its debut have only hyped it up further. David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter reported that Past Lives was “the most unanimously praised film at Sundance.”
The most unanimously praised film at Sundance, Celine Song’s PAST LIVES, drew a similarly ecstatic reception in its international premiere at the #Berlinale today. My @THR review of the decades-spanning romantic drama, opening later this year from @A24 https://t.co/hVygSBcVSW

A24 has a reputation for producing highly-acclaimed films. Many are hoping for an Academy Awards ‘sweep’ for the company’s 2022 film Everything Everywhere All At Once, and the company itself has been nominated for 49 Oscars and countless other awards. The success of the company’s other projects, such as Euphoria and Midsommar, hint at Past Lives being another compelling success.
Similarly, many fans are excited that A24 continues to represent Asian characters on screen. Their films Minari and The Farewell starred actors such as Steven Yeun and Awkwafina, normalizing the presence of Asian voices in film and television. With Hollywood’s history of misrepresenting Asian people, A24’s films are a refreshing and necessary addition to the industry. The thoughtful and gorgeous portrayal of Asian stories empowers a community that has been overlooked for so long.
Audiences can watch Past Lives in theaters later this year and can watch the trailer on YouTube.
