JoJo Is Your New Satine in Broadway’s Moulin Rouge!
Platinum Recording Artist Joanna Levesque, better known as JoJo, is entering her musical theatre era as she is set to make her Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! After Ashley Loren takes her final bow on April 9, JoJo will take the stage and portray the role of Satine.
In the show, Satine is the dancer and courtesan of the Moulin Rouge, who is known as the “Sparkling Diamond,” who gets noticed after her aptly titled performance of “The Sparkling Diamond,” which is influenced heavily by “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.” While Satine is the shiniest diamond in the Moulin Rouge, she’s hiding a tragic secret, but we’ll let JoJo show you the rest.

In an Instagram post, the singer announced her casting and expressed her excitement for the new venture. “Truth. Beauty. Freedom. Love. So I can’t believe I’m finally able to say this… I’m making my Broadway debut in MOULIN ROUGE ❗️❗️❗️ When I first saw this musical, I fell instantly head over heels in love. I watched from the edge of my seat, hanging onto every word of every song. This show is a full on feast for the senses, and the opportunity to play Satine feels like the culmination of so many dreams. I cannot believe I get to join this phenomenal cast and company!!!! You guys blow me away!!! “ she stated.
“Thank you to the amazing producers and directorial staff for believing in me like you do. Performing on Broadway and living in NYC?! This is all a dream come true. I know this show means so much to so many, and I promise to put all I have into every single night as Satine,” she continued.

JoJo is a Y2K staple bringing us hits like “Too Little Too Late” and “Leave (Get Out),” which feature strong belts, so there is no doubt that she will nail the role vocally.
