With the official trailer airing on Super Bowl Sunday less than two weeks ago, anticipation for The Flash is hitting an all-time high.

Warner Bros. and the Convention

This year, CinemaCon will take place April 24-27 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. According to the event’s official website, CinemaCon is “the largest and most important gathering of movie theater owners from around the world.” The convention has been held annually since 2011 and has hosted a series of events, including exclusive presentations, panels, appearances from industry stars, and premier screenings.

In November 2022, James Gunn and Peter Safran were officially made co-CEOs of DC Studios. The two will oversee creative endeavors involving DC Comics’ characters and their on-screen ventures.

Warner Bros.’ soft reboot of the DC Universe includes four new films coming to theaters this year. The Flash will be the second of the four to debut following Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and preceding Blue Beetle and Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom.

With an official release date of June 16, The Flash will give CinemaCon attendees the chance to view the film six weeks early. Gunn called The Flash “a fantastic movie that [he] really loved”, and added that it will be a reset for the entire DC universe.

Trouble With The Flash Star Ezra Miller

Some controversy has risen following the reveal that Ezra Miller will star as Barry Allen/ The Flash. After a slew of crimes beginning in 2020, fans of the DCEU have expressed concerns about Miller’s role in the reboot.

During a press conference in January, Safran stood up for Miller, stating, “Ezra is completely committed to their recovery.[…]We’re fully supportive of that journey that they’re on right now.”

Some on Twitter have chimed in with their takes on the situation. Twitter user @halloween wrote, “Honestly, it’s really not anything that shocking. Seems like pretty boilerplate ‘child actor struggling with adulthood…’ type behavior.”

Given that Gunn and Safran have both expressed their support for the star, Miller has likely shown some improvement in their behavior over the past several months. It’s hard to believe that the duo who stated that they have “loved…DC characters…since [they] were children” would put faith in an actor who had the potential to upset their new franchise.

In August of 2022, Miller spoke of the span of their crimes as being “a time of intense crisis” for them, adding that they had “begun ongoing treatment” for their “complex mental health issues.”

Regardless of Miller’s situation, The Flash has maintained the same level of excitement since the film’s trailer was teased at CinemaCon 2022. As the first live-action adaptation of the Flashpoint comics, fans are eager to see how Warner Bros. will transform the source material.

Although tickets to CinemaCon are limited to members of the convention and its partner associations, the film’s official release date isn’t too far off. Catch The Flash in theaters on June 16. Watch the trailer down below.
