Ahead of St. Vincent’s performance at the seventh annual Love Rocks benefit concert at the Beacon Theatre, the “Daddy’s Home” singer performed a gorgeous rendition of Portishead’s track “Glory Box.” She hypnotized listeners with her powerful vocals and mini electric guitar solo. It is hard to do the track justice, but she exceeded all expectations.

Portishead is a British trip-hop group that was formed in 1991. The band is considered a pioneer of the trip-hop genre. “Glory Box” initially appeared on the band’s debut album Dummy released in 1994. Lead singer Beth Gibbons reveals that she “never particularly wanted to be a songwriter” but with an emotional track like “Glory Box,” fans are thankful for her songs.

St. Vincent is no stranger to performing covers. She was one of many star-studded musicians collaborating with Jack Antonoff on the Minions: Rise of Gru soundtrack, taking on the iconic “Funkytown.” The singer was also featured on the Metallica Blacklist, a massive tribute album celebrating Metallica’s Black Album. She also performed a smashing cover of “Sad But True.”

In May 2021, St. Vincent released her sixth studio album, Daddy’s Home. The record helped her take home her third Grammy in her career and her second win for Best Alternative Album at this year’s Grammy awards.

Congratulations to St. Vincent on another beautiful cover. She is one of many talented musicians performing at Love Rocks NYC. She will be joined by Sheryl Crow, Allison Russell, James Taylor, Gary Clark Jr., Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Mavis Staples, and more.

Fans can stream her Grammy award-winning album, Daddy’s Home, on all major music platforms.
