It’s been a big week for Kelly Clarkson, who announced her latest album, Chemistry, and an upcoming residency in Las Vegas.

On Sunday, Clarkson announced her new album in a video post on Instagram. In the video, the superstar excitedly shared the news of her tenth album and explained what its title means to her. When elaborating on the name for her newest project, Clarkson shared, “It’s called Chemistry because I was trying to find a word… that really described the whole thing.”

She continued, “This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship, you know, and a whole relationship shouldn’t be just brought down to just one thing so there’s you know the good, the bad, and the ugly kind of thing going on in it.” This is undoubtedly referencing her 2020 divorce from Brandon Blackstock after a seven-year marriage.

In the video, Clarkson warned, “Chemistry can be a really amazing, sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be very bad for you.” With this in mind, the singer stated that Chemistry was the perfect title to describe the entire project.

Although she didn’t give an exact release date, the American Idol winner did state that the album will be released soon, with music from it coming even sooner. She emphasized, “And when I say soon, I mean really soon.” The video concluded with Clarkson sharing that she is nervous about releasing new music but ultimately excited for what’s to come.

Along with the announcement of Chemistry, Clarkson also shared that she will have a residency in Las Vegas this summer. The residency will run for ten nights, beginning July 29 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Bakkt Theater. The string of shows hails the same name as her new album and is detailed as “an intimate night with Kelly Clarkson.”

This residency will be her first official set of shows since her Meaning of Life tour in 2019. Clarkson was set to begin a Las Vegas residency in 2020, but it was postponed with the outbreak of COVID-19.

Now, three years later, people are more excited than ever at the chance to see the musical icon perform songs, old and new, live on stage.

Tickets go on sale on March 31 and will be available on Ticketmaster
