School of Rock star Jack Black confirmed a 20-year anniversary reunion for the film earlier Wednesday.

At the premiere of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Jack Black opened up on his upcoming plans for the anniversary of School of Rock – a film he had starred in almost 20 years ago. The actor starred alongside Miranda Cosgrove and the late Kevin Clark, along with an array of other child stars. That was decades ago when those actors were around 10 years old. Now, Black excitedly told Entertainment Tonight, those stars are in their 30s.

On his plans for the anniversary, Black announced a reunion with the stars of the original movie. “We’re gonna get together and have a 20-year anniversary. We like to jam. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the grownups from School of Rock.”

Black is definitely known for jamming out. During the film’s 10-year anniversary, the group reunited to reprise the film’s ending track, “Rock Got No Reason.” From his presence in the comedy rock band and film Tenacious D to his iconic Sax-A-Boom performance on The Late Night Show, the actor has certainly proved his musical abilities. Black even posted a picture with rapper and fellow musician Tyler, The Creator last year.

His passion for music and School of Rock has remained close to his heart ever since starring in the film. In a 2022 interview, he told Entertainment Tonight that the film was the “highlight of his career.”

Black has continued his support for the film and its growth through the years. He supported its Andrew Lloyd Webber stage adaptation on Broadway in 2016 with an open heart. Afterward, the actor told Broadway Buzz that the musical was “surreal.” He went on to emphasize his “pride to be part of something that has transformed into this incredible Broadway masterpiece.” The musical’s Twitter page even tweeted a cast picture featuring Black.

Support didn’t end there, though. Earlier this year, Black and fellow star of Tenacious D Kyle Gass announced that they were considering a hybrid sequel to both Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny and School of Rock. Their respect and love for their films stem from the influences their films had on children. “We inspired, shaped young minds,” Gass told Sirius XM.

Black’s love for his fellow co-stars and his film radiates from him. On the topic of a 20th-anniversary reunion, he assured Entertainment Tonight that he would “100 percent” share footage of the anniversary. Unfortunately, actor Kevin Clark died in an automobile incident in 2021. Black shared that he was “heartbroken” at the news. His presence at this year’s reunion will definitely be missed.
