The New Book Club Sequel Is Officially On the Way
The hit movie, Book Club, now has its own sequel, Book Club: The Next Chapter. It just released a brand-new trailer and is all set to premiere in May.
Book Club which first premiered in 2018, is about four friends who stumble upon the infamous 50 Shades of Grey in their monthly book club. The book helps these women (in their 60s-70s) rediscover the joys of sex, old and new flames, in an attempt to spice up their mundane lives.
Book Club 2: The Next Chapter, like its prequel, stars Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen. Based on the new trailer, we can expect Fonda’s character, Viviane to be engaged. Hence, this gives her friends a reason to plan a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. What better way to celebrate womanhood than to indulge in the dreamy land of pasta, paintings, and exquisite wine- Italy.
According to a press release, the highly anticipated sequel, will not only be starring the four returning icons but Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, and Craig Nelson too. Additionally, Giancarlo Giannini, Hugh Quarshie, and Vincent Riotta will also be following the cast and crew to Italy.
I’m so glad they r making more movies with older female great actors. The first book club was great. Cannot wait for this one.

“How does a woman in her 70s end up getting married?” the trailer poses. “She takes control of her own destiny.” The press release also describes the plot- “When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure.”
Since the prequel grossed over $100 million, many believe it was revolutionary. It proved that stories of women over 60 can impress audiences just as anyone else. “The older the vines, the sweeter the fruit,” as the young Italian man quotes in the first trailer for the Book Club sequel.
Bill Holderman’s, Book Club 2: The Next Chapter will premiere in theaters on May 12, 2023. While we impatiently wait for the movie to release, here is the trailer in case you haven’t watched it already.
