White Men Can’t Jump Releases New Trailer and Poster
Thirty-one years ago, the classic comedy White Men Can’t Jump came out in theaters. Now, a remake is coming to audiences, and the trailer promises more laughs.
Starring Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls, White Men Can’t Jump will be bringing a new basketball game to the world. The original film, which came out in 1992, follows two men from opposite worlds who team up to hustle and play basketball. The original starred Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson. This remake has been in the works for a few years, with Harlow and Walls signing on last year. The new White Men Can’t Jump comes out on May 19 on Hulu. The film will display some new tricks for a timeless sport.
The trailer came out on April 20. The viewer sees Harlow and Walls’ characters meet when they make a bet at their local court. After Walls underestimates Harlow, Harlow is able to hustle him for money. Even though they come from different worlds, they are not so different. The two of them both want to make the women in their lives happy. So the two decide to enter a big basketball contest together so they can hustle for money together. However, this idea may be easier said than done, as the world of basketball might be a little scary.

The poster had its reveal on the same day as the trailer. Much like the original poster, this one has the two main characters in tough poses. However, this one is definitely a little different. While Jack Harlow is slyly facing away, holding the basketball, Walls is facing forward with his arms crossed, displaying his muscles. The colors are also brighter, and the title is in some pink and green neon colors. The poster also has the film’s tagline, “Play Hard, Hustle Harder.” This poster is able to capture the sporty energy that the movie is promising.

This is Harlow’s first acting role. His fame primarily comes from his career as a rapper, where he has found great success worldwide. With many chart toppers and award nominations, Harlow has made a notable rapping career. This film will be his step into the acting world. Last fall, Harlow was the host of Saturday Night Live, which allowed him to show off his comedy chops. That hosting gig might have been practice for him to star in a film with some expectations to live up to.

Walls has had a steady acting career for many years. Most of his work has been in television, where he has found many recurring roles in popular series. These series include Friday Night Lights, The Secret Life of an American Teenager, and Teen Wolf. White Men Can’t Jump will be Wall’s first big starring role in a film. This movie might be able to display to more people his acting talents or at least help him gain notoriety next to Jack Harlow.

Many people are wary of this remake. When an original film is so memorable, the general voice will believe that a remake is not necessary, so it is possible that audiences will see it as a cheap cash grab. While this is often the case, some remakes can prove that they are more than that. Hopefully, this is one of those films. The trailer of this film has demonstrated some new jokes, and maybe the rest of the film will feel fresh and original too. In the meantime, the trailer is available below.
